A 40-Year Laundry Cycle

KENT, OH (March) –  Kenneth P. Kimak, Vice-President of Customer Relations at R.W. Martin & Sons, Inc. can remember when the business employed just six people, and the “parts department” was a secretary who answered parts questions in her spare time.  Kimak (right) came to R.W. Martin fresh out of Kent State University to be the Company’s first service technician. That was 1969.  On March 6th Kimak celebrated 40 years with the firm.

Over the years, Kimak actively supervised the Company’s field services, including equipment installations and machinery rebuilding work.  In 1990, Kimak was named Vice President to officially head Martin’s customer service operations—at that point, revenue from parts sales accounted for about 5% of the Company’s business.  Today, revenues from the department, now operating as PartsPLUS™ and a core business unit, represent a significant portion of the Company’s business.

Throughout his career at Martin, Ken has contributed in so many meaningful ways,” says Shawn Martin(left), President of R.W. Martin.  It is commendable that he maintains his technical capabilities to continue to support his peers and our customers in the field.”

R.W. Martin specializes in buying and selling single pieces of industrial laundry machinery, complete processing lines, and entire plants. The company offers complete machinery rebuilding, equipment system installation, asset relocations and plant dismantling; as well as, comprehensive asset evaluation, appraisal and inventory listing services.  R.W. Martin has served the industrial uniform rental, commercial linen supply, and dust control industries, as well as the institutional, hospitality and health-care on-premise laundry markets throughout North America since 1967.
