Do you have any Nicknames?
Tom: My family called me “Tommy” growing up, and yes, I was a “pinball wizard”!
For obvious reasons, I am also called “Double T” and “T Squared”.
What motivates you to wake up and go to work?
Tom: My dad worked 37 years for one company and never missed a day unless he was needed for someone else. He took on any position assigned to him and succeeded. The true definition of a grinder. My mom was the same way at home in taking care of what was needed. She never complained no matter the setback nor the problem and was always there when needed. I’m just following their lead and doing the same for my family. Now they are the ones I have to keep up with.
It’s not considered work if you have fun with what you’re doing. What could be better at work than customers having a project to expand or a problem to resolve and helping them with the best solutions.
What do you see as your Primary Goal at RWM?
Tom: Sharing our solutions and experiences with our customers to help them improve their business and in turn, they help us improve ours. We have a great team culture at RW Martin and all have the same work ethic and attitude to provide exceptional service.
What has been your favorite project so far?
Tom: We provided a water heater for a specialty application where we had to work outside the box to determine the project needs and installation. We had to consider the immediate and the future operations, provide systems and equipment to do both, make sure the project schedule was adhered to, and coordinate the services required.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
Tom: I have every baseball glove I’ve ever owned from the time I was 8-years old. I also have my dad’s 3-finger glove and his Marine Corps glove.
I love 1950’s Science Fiction movies. The worse they are, the better they are to watch. It is not uncommon to start rooting for the aliens because the humans are so inept. Steve McQueen running into the a 50’s style diner to avoid the Blob. Really?
